Our business was started over 18 years ago by its founders Uttam and Clare Nepal
In 1994 Uttam and Clare began selling knitwear from Uttam's home country of Nepal in Camden Market, London. The fashion at the time for hand-made ethnic clothing made their collection increasingly popular towards the end of the 1990s and the brand enjoyed considerable growth. The company acquired a reputation for its vibrant colours, quirky prints attention to detail and quickly became globally recognised for its eye-catching womenswear, childrenswear and accessories.
The continuing growth and success led to the launch of Yumi and Uttam Boutique and then the introduction of younger sister labels, Mela Loves London and Iska which drew inspiration from London street style, combined with emerging trends, and offers a liberated collection that appeals to the style conscious consumer.
Today the company boasts 5 brands including Yumi, Uttam Boutique, Yumi Girl, Uttam Kids and Iska.
This season Yumi stays true to its English Heritage roots with a contemporary collection that has that added quirky edge the Yumi customers have come to know and love.
SS15 sees a mixture of natural fabrics cleverly worked together with flattering silhouettes to create an uber feminine collection.
Keeping to the Yumi tradition, you’ll find exotic and mirrored
animal inspired prints splashed over dresses and tops. Two piece skort suits come in quirky floral prints and festival macs are updated with lace detailing. Knitwear updates include a feast of quirky animal motifs and textured blends which can be layered up with occasion-wear.
This exciting collection from Yumi is packed full of perfect summer day-to-night wardrobe staples.
