FACTORY
Waltex was started in 1954 by Walter Maestri and it became one of the main suppliers of the most important department store in both Italy and Europe. In the ’70s, besides the business unit in charge of private label production, a new business unit was set up to design, produce and distribute our own brand: studio IKO’ by Waltex. The new brand was initially distributed through a showroom in downtown Milan, and because of its great success the Milan show room was moved to “Centro Tessile” and a new showroom was set up in “Bologna Centergross”.
In order to strengthen sales in the ’90s Waltex opened several shops in Emila and Lombaria and most recently a factory outlet store selling the previous collection’s goods together with some new styles expressly made with the newest trends. The business unit charged with private label has had big developments as well including getting commercial agreements with worldwide suppliers and, for several years, requiring each supplier to undertake the fundamental principles and rules issued by the International Labour Organization (the ILO). Key issues are conventions which aim to eliminate child labour and abolish slavery and forced or obligatory labour. Because of that, all the suppliers have to pass a Social Audit.
QUALITY
studio IKO’ doesn’t offer only garments with up to date trends. It also represents quality. We pursue quality in many ways. First, through the selection of the best raw materials which are carefully checked by trained people. Next, through modeling with the constant pursuit of a perfect fitting, and through cutting and stitching done in Italy. Finally, through an end-product quality control (QC) check to assure that every garment meets our clients high standards.
