Plume is a Brooklyn based fashion and home goods company established in 2014 founded on three simple passions -- combining traditional craft skills with modern design, providing empowerment and equality to women globally, and the belief that nothing is more cherished in a home or fashion collection than truly unique, handmade products of the highest quality.
All Plume products are designed by founder Kate Collins in Brooklyn. Her designs focus on the essentials of a woman's wardrobe and lifestyle, melding traditional decorative hand craftsmanship with a contemporary vision to make each product one-of-a-kind. Kate personally selects women artisans from more than 20 countries around the world to produce her designs, with each item being meticulously hand crafted. Given the handmade detail of every piece, Plume's products are produced in highly limited quantities on a seasonal basis, with a curated collection of pieces unveiled at the start of each season for an exclusive window of availability.
We use our passion for traditional craft skills to positively impact women's rights and economic independence. Every purchase made within the Plume community helps provide economic and social stability to the women artisans we work with throughout the world. In countries where often times women have highly limited employment opportunities, Plume supports women's economic independence through working solely with women owned business that provide fair local wages. Additionally, by regularly showcasing our artisans, we provide them with a visible global platform for their talents that otherwise would not be seen outside their home country.
Thank you for supporting and sharing our passion for handcrafted artistry, and our vision of equality for women everywhere.
Kate Collins
A lifelong artist, Kate founded the boutique children's clothing line June Plum in 2007. As the company grew, she found herself yearning to find a way to have more of a social impact. In particular she had seen the persistent impact oppression has on the majority of women in the world today, through lack of a basic education and economic opportunities, and wanted to evolve her business in a way that could affect greater change. When the idea for Plume came to her, it proved to be a perfect way to meld her passions for design and human rights. Kate lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Emilio, and two daughters, Naiyah and Zadie.
