Coming from an artistic family, Gul Agis started drawing when she was 4. Her family always believed that she was going to be an artist as she would keep on drawing for hours and hours.
Agis always loved fashion, art & books. Therefore it is not accidential that her first degree at university was English language&literature. After having worked for many years in the advertising business, her passion for creating clothes for friends and relatives, did not quench her thirst.
Having decided that she wanted to go to Milan, her “dream” city to learn ready-to-wear from scratch, at the age of 29 she left everything behind and started her fashion studies at Istituto Marangoni. She proved that it was not wrong to follow her dream as she always had an interesting story behind each collection and amazed her instructors. Following her graduation with honours, she was acceptd by EC - European Community - to study master of fashion design at Universty Politecnico di Milano.
After her graduation , she was interviewed by many famous fashion houses and she decided to start at Costume National, where she found most close to her language of design. She worked for more than 4 years for both C’N’C and Costume National with him, from A to Z. “ From fabric to clour choices our taste was so similar with Ennio, who is the founder and the creative director of the brand , I am so grateful for the impeccable tailoring and fitting technique I learned from him .” says Gul Agis.
In 2007, she went back to Istanbul and worked for 4 years in one of the biggest textile production companies, where she was the head of design and created many collections for more than 50 customers including fast fashion giants such as H&M, Vero Moda and Mango.
In 2010 she created her own label LUG VON SIGA, the acronym of her name, reflecting a new aesthetic and contemporary style which comes from her rich cultural heritage.
She started showcasing first during Fashion Week Istanbul, followed by London Fashion Week for three seasons starting with Spring/Summer 2013.
2014 was a turning point for the brand, when Agis was chosen by Mercedes Benz as one of the most talented designers and presented first during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul. Then she was invited by IMG to showcase during the opening night of Mercedes Benz Fashion Days Zurich in November 2014.
She was the first Turkish designer that has been presented abroad by Mercedes Benz during MBFWMadrid in February, 2015.
She was also chosen by Vogue Italy and supported by Turkish Leather Brands to create a capsule collection where it was published by L’Uomo Vogue and presented during Pitti Uomo at Palazzo Cappone in Florence and Pop-up store La Rinascente, Milan.
