Herb is like a menu in a good restaurant—concise but inspiring. "Variety for the sake of it only distracts me from the essential,” says Angela Herb, "I end up just ordering a glass of water and a tooth pick, and go home hungry.” Reducing things to their essence is her guideline for not only dining, but designing clothes. Applied to the Herb label, this principle results in small series, full of poetic simplicity, fabricated with technical perfection.
Streetwear elements, such as long, stepped sleeves, comfortably large pockets and high-necked hoods lend the jackets, tops and dresses a certain nonchalance without, however, neglecting elegance. Apart from cotton, fleece and classical fibers, Angela Herb uses modern technical fabrics which she, in some part, silk screens. Everyday life supplies the motives. In this way, an entire collection is generated from one story, one idea as starting point. Herb develops these further, with details whose real substance can often only be recognized at a second glance.
Playful experiments with elastic cotton gave rise to the Gameshirt, a multifunctional clothing item, suitable for every occasion. It can be worn in ten different variations and thus proves the ideal companion for large city dwellers.
