The davidelfin brand conceives fashion as both a means and way of expression, turning it into a platform where different creative disciplines come into scene and mix together. Davidelfin is a reference in the world of fashion, and has its own recognizable brand identity as well as a multidisciplinary creative ability which extends itself beyond the sphere of fashion. This can be observed by the great number of awards it has received, amongst which we may highlight the T Fashion Award awarded by TELVA magazine for the Best Spanish Designer in 2008; the Season´s Book Award for the Best Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection; the Prix de la Mode Marie Claire 2003 for the Best Spanish Young Designer and the L’Oreal Award for the Best Collection for “In Loving Memory”, obtained in 2003.
Davidelfin is a team made up of more than 20 young people who come from different professional backgrounds, such as fashion design, graphic design, photography, architecture, music, communications, pattern design and tailoring. This has led to the continuous carrying out of projects in parallel with fashion, which have been influenced by the different ideologies present in the group, like the intervention which took place in the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao, as part of the exhibition “Cosas del surrealismo” (Surrealism Things) in June 2008, the designing of the new “Ford Focus Coupé Cabriolet by davidelfin”, the designing of the new wardrobe for HAMLET for the play performed at the Teatro Español in Madrid, adapted and directed by Tomaz Pandur, the image corresponding to the Málaga Film Festival, the interior decoration design for the Finca de Arandinos hotel in La Rioja, the arts direction of Miguel Bosé’s LP entitled PAPITO, or the arts direction for The Cabriolets’ DEMO LP, a musical project headed by Bimba Bosé, muse and partner of the firm.
Diego David Domínguez González, best known as David Delfín, is a Spanish designer and artist born in Ronda, Málaga, in 1970. In 2001, he created the brand Davidelfin together with the three Postigo Brothers (Deborah Postigo, Diego Postigo y Gorka Postigo) and the model Bimba Bosé. The first time he walked the runway was at the “Circuit de Barcelona”, where he presented a collection entitled “Openin Nite” (Spring/Summer 2001). He made the first page for the first time in 2002, when he presented his collection “Cour des Miracles” at the Pasarela Cibeles in Madrid. This collection, inspired by surrealism, showed the models with their faces covered up with hoods and gallows ropes tied to their necks, thus creating a lot of controversy due to the fact that it coincided with the war which was being fought in Afghanistan against the Taliban regime. However, all these polemics didn’t stop him from being awarded with the prize for the Best Young Designer’s Collection at the Pasarela Cibeles in 2003, for his collection entitled “In loving memory”. Ever since then, he has been present at Cibeles every season up to September 2008 and, in February 2009, he was included in the New York Fashion Week’s official calendar, becoming one of Spain’s icons in the international sphere.
