According to a legend the origin of B.D. Baggies dates back to 1919, when a young man named Bradford Dexter Bagg discovered a trunk full of his father’s old clothes. The story goes like this: determined to follow in his father’s footsteps, Bradford made the first step by trying on one of his old shirts: and although a bit large for him, they suited him fine.
Everything that was contained in the trunk was well made and comfortable, so Bradford took the trunk with him to the East, where he studied.
They had a great success in his college, as all the students wanted to have a shirt which would represent their spirit of freedom, in contract to their austere university uniforms, and soon the extra comfortable clothes with that air of being “lived in” were called B.D. Baggies in honor of the first person to wear them.
After finishing his studies, Bradfor decided to start producing them with his initials and packaged in pure cotton bags with drawstrings, identical to the one he used to use when he was going to university.
