“SHOES AND WINE”
My story is a walking story.
In 1993 I was in Australia and my last pair of sandals broke down. I was so far from the so-called civilization that I had no other choice than trying to make myself a new pair. I found an old tyre and used it to cut out a sole. The rest came by itself. Once I completed the first sandal, I sadly discovered that I had to make another one, symmetrical, for the left foot. It was a real shock, but step by step I created the other one too. After that the shoe, as essence, extension of motion, was in my cardiovascular system. That’s to say, it blended with my blood.
A shoe contains everything. Strain, vanity, seduction, beauty, sadness, presumption, power, sacrifice. Sex.
A woman doesn’t need clothes. She needs shoes. So this simple – basic, primordial – necessity, turned into passion. And that passion became my job. Harmony with nature has always been the input of my work. The need of being part of a whole, together with the will of not changing it. With the purpose of creating a style.
Today I completed this concept by adding two elements, almost to create a perfect triangle in which to enclose the essence of appearance, which is also an essence of living: sunglasses, studied expressly not to cover the face, but to intensify it’s forms. And wine, which deserves a more exhaustive analysis.
“L’ORGIA DI VERDURA”
“L’Orgia di Verdura” is a Logo-Topos, created like a graphic ‘pattern’ which, representing my spirit-philosophy, becomes it’s emblem, ‘Tag’ and ‘inner concept’. You will find this decoration in the most part of my creations.
“VinOrgia”
I was born in Tuscany, and for me the wine represents the source of pleasure, of love. Red wine, with its colour, its blend and its fragrance, is the apogee of sensuality. This is why I called it VinOrgia, where “orgia”doesn’t mean simply sexual orgy, but love among humans, sharing of experiences, harmony between different opinions and beliefs. And, above all, a great joie de vivre. Wine as life, it has to be tasted slowly, with passion. Like the passion I had over all these years.
After all, it was only a pair of sandals that broke down....
