Pirosmani is one of the brightest and most enigmatic of the Saint-Petersburg brands. The Pirosmani style consists of complex asymmetric shapes, exquisite draperies, as well as sharp European and free Eastern cuts.
Evgeniya Malygina, the Pirosmani fashion house head and designer, graduated from the Saint-Petersburg State Academy of arts and crafts named after Mukhina, with honors. Even before graduation Evgeniya was invited to show her debut collection at the Moscow fashion week. After graduation she started working on regular collections. Starting from 2004 the Pirosmani Fashion House has been showing its seasonal collections at the Saint-Petersburg Fashion Week, as well as at the Russian Fashion week.
In November 2007, Engeniya Malygina, accepting an invitation from the Russian edition of ELLE magazine, participated in the Russian Fashion Festival at Milan. Under the auspices of this event Pirosmani dresses were exhibited at the Societa Italia showroom for the representatives of fashion industry from across the globe and owners of stores and factories. The Camera de la Moda Italia head, Beppe Modenese personally invites Evgeniya Malygina to participate in Milan fashion Week. This event was highly publicized in Italian and Russian press.
In spring 2009, the “Federation of Italian fashion” invites Malygina Evgeniya for a fashion show to Italy. The successful Pirosmani fashion show leaves everlasting impression on the fashion experts and the Italian public.
In 2010 Pirosmani comes up with a new concept about fashion shows, called Anti-podium, which over turns the image of a traditional fashion show, turns the fashion show into a fashion-art performance and the models into art-objects. The ideology of Antipodium is: no fashion, no trends, no season. Fashion is art and the path from the artist to the audience must be the shortest possible. Under the auspices of this concept, in April 2010, a show titled “Antipodium - Mirror Mask” was held at the “Krasnoe Znamya” cultural center. The venue an architectural monument of constructivism, dusty floor, luminescent factory lighting, were all the part of the performance.
