MORESCHI
Calzaturificio Moreschi was established in 1946 as a family-run artisan firm and followed the development of the industrial zone of Vigevano.
In the Fifties, Gianbeppe Moreschi (now the company President) began working in the family shoe factory, which was called “Calzaturificio Morres” at that time. Due to the sudden demise of his father Mario in 1957, Gianbeppe found himself heading up the firm, making it take off once and for all in the space of a decade.
Calzaturificio Moreschi was officially founded in 1963 with the unmistakable logo – conceived by the Milanese graphic designer Angelo Gabriele Fronzoni – of two stylized men's shoes, black on white, which became the symbol of a company with close ties to the history of the industrial zone of Vigevano.
In the Eighties and Nineties, Gianbeppe's sons started working for the firm, the third Moreschi generation: Stefano is the CEO, Mario manages the manufacturing processes and Francesco deals with marketing and PR.
The new Moreschi production centre, built in 2003, is one of the leading Italian manufacturing plants for luxury shoes, making 100% Made in Vigevano products: the newly designed plant allocates, in addition to plant and service areas, 20.000 m2 of green zones, a factory outlet and a nursery for its employees' children, as proof of the attention always paid by the firm to its human resources, which is the most valuable resource in making artisan products. The group currently employees 400 workers and produces approximately 25.,000 pairs of shoes every
year.
Craftsmanship, comfort, top quality, attention to detail, prized materials, global appeal and Italian production, of course, are the keywords that best describe the Moreschi philosophy. 250 to 300 manual steps are needed to make a Moreschi shoe and manual cutting procedures, such as for moccasins, the jewel in the Moreschi crown, are still maintained for most prized materials and the upper is still made entirely by hand, with 35 one-to-one points stretched by expert artisans.
Today Moreschi distributes in 80 countries and it is present with more than 30 boutiques in franchising worldwide. Moreschi is now focusing its attention on the communication and retail strategy: significant investments in leading men's and women's fashion publications and the development of a new concept store, the ideal match between tradition and innovation. Some of the most recent openings include the flagship store in Milan, in Piazza San Babila, and in Rome, in Via Frattina.
