MABRUN S.p.A. was founded in 1936 for the manufacturing of leather articles, called at the time “truck-driver jackets”. The fashion of these clothes lasted for many years, only with a very limited production because of the economical conditions of the period.
Afterwards, together with the leather tanning evolution, Mabrun began to manufacture leather garments, known as “antelope”: especially costumers, ¾ coats and very simple men’s bombers with wool borders. These items remained in at least for a whole decade.
At that time, with the coming of the stylists, leather and shearling became fashion goods: in fact, the “winter”, created just to face the cold rigors, became more and more trendy. Mabrun began then to transform that product, i.e. a very classic one, in very tasty clothes, always trying to anticipate customers’ requirements.
In its early stages, Mabrun was a small handicraft company. Gradually it has become an industrial company with more than 80 people only in the headquarters situated in Bassano del Grappa. Besides the office its 6.500 sq. m. plant where machinery is constantly kept updated, especially for modelling and planning and the global communication is always in evolution.
The manufacturing side, starting from cutting the leathers up to the tailoring and the last proceed of ironing and testing are entrusted to an even larger number of people. They are tied up to the main office by a strong company spirit that is anyway very elastic too if we consider that manufacturing the leathers, one different from the other, requires an almost handicraft approach.
Almost twenty years ago we added the sportswear collection, both for man and woman, with the idea of creating clothes for the city and for free time too. In the last years this idea evolved in an all-weekday collection that completes very well with the collections in leathers, so far that at least 80% of our customers buy both lines.
We’re now manufacturing about 180.000 pieces every year, with the real goal to increase our production in the very next years. Actually we have around 800 customers all over the world and most of them are working with us since a very long time.
Beside Russia, we’re now working successfully with Italy – that remains our main market – and then with Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, Middle- and Far East, U.S.A., Canada and China. Here, with the precious co-operation of our agent-importer, we achieved to open three monobrand shops in Singapore, Pechino and Macao.
