Founded in 2009 by the eponymous couturier, Julien Fournié is a boutique luxury house, centered around what its founder calls his “laboratory”: Parisian Couture. On top of its Couture pieces, it has also been offering, since 2013, capsule collections of ready-to-wear for women. The history of the house is told with its collections, unveiled in Paris in January and July, each year during the Haute Couture Fashion Week. Thus “First Pieces” in June 2009 did sketch the beginnings style codes by Julien Fournié: “windows” on the back, “Art Deco” lace, noble fabrics (chiffon, crepe or silk organza …) mixed with more innovative materials. This first collection under the designer’s name has mùade hime the winner of the Grand Prize for Creativity by the City of Paris in January 2010.
Three collections after its debut, in January 2011, Julien Fournié has shown for the first time under his name in the official calendar of Couture and Haute Couture shows. The Parisian couturiers club has accepted him as “guest member” in their exclusive circle. For his first runway show in the official calendar, Julien Fournié wanted to make a strong statement: entitled “First Colors” the collection was showcased inside the City Hall of Paris 6th arrondissement, only on black models.
In 2011 also, Julien Fournié, convinced that 3D design can propel fashion to new heights, has created – together with Dassault Systèmes-, FashionLab , a technology incubator at the crossroads of the fashion world and 3D design,. Since then, the two partners has been consistently exploring and developing together several incubation projects for clothing, footwear, accessories as well as solving in a new manner the sourcing of materials and retailing issues.
Thanks to its success in Couture, the house of Julien Fournié has been offering, since the presentation of its «First Impulse” collection in July 2014, a capsule collection of ready-to-wear for women. Available at Printemps Haussmann in the “Le Soir by Maria Luisa” corner since January 2015, the ready-to-wear line by Julien Fournié is also available for a selected network of multilabel retailers worldwide.
Developped thanks to 3D design solutions by Fashionlab, the Julien Fournié footwear collections (seen on the runway since july 2014) will soon be available to customers.
Over the seasons, the Parisian couture house has been supported by key personalities including, from its beginnings, Jean Paul Cauvin, fashion writer who has been taking care of the staging and casting for the house’s runway shows and who has become the house’s Chief Operating Officer since 2013, Madame Jacqueline, the head seamstress of the Julien Fournié atelier, Nicolas Degennes, makeup artist, since 2014, Cécile Kosmalski, president of ASC Stylcouture, a 100% “Made in France” ready to-wear manufacturer, the late Maria Luisa Poumaillou, legendary buyer and Fashion Editor of Printemps, since 2011 YKK fastening solutions, since 2014 the wonderful team of London-based haordressers Neville, headed by Elena Lavagni and Stephen Low, since 2015, the House of Sophie Hallette, a worldwide reference in innovative lace, and many other crafts and skills considered as treasures by thehouse’s founder and team.
Since its kickoff, the house of Julien Fournié has also had the honor of being invited to show its productions as a guest at prestigious events abroad, in order to showcase its style to customers of luxury in their homeland. Three different shows were shown in Singapore at Fide Fashion Weeks in 2012 and 2013. The house also presented its “First Retrospective” in the Hall of Honour of the Stockholm City Hall (Sweden) in November 2012 .
