The CIVIDINI fashion house was founded in 1988 by Miriam and Piero Cividini, who decided to launch their own line based on the experience from their years of collaboration as freelance designers for Italian and international companies.
The first knitwear-only collections gave shape to the CIVIDINI idea: a collection of cashmere tops exclusively woven on hand looms, addressed to an educated public who is interested in a type of fashion that is not fickle nor short-lived, but has a high content of craftsmanship and quality, and sharp and modern design.
This intuition of Miriam and Piero brought the CIVIDINI brand to commercial success in just a few years, drawing in a niche set of demanding and independent clients.
By 1995, the Brand was consolidated and Piero and Miriam decided to take a watershed step, presenting a complete Pret à Porter collection with a catwalk show during the Milan Fashion Week. The total look collection picked up on the original philosophy of the Brand: high-quality fabrics, craftsmanship in production, technological research and purity in lines, again addressed to a niche, international public.
With this show, the Maison was the first to offer the market knitwear and fabrics made in Silk/Steel, a material that would become a CIVIDINI signature together with the most precious cashmeres, the lightest linens, the finest wools and with its reputation in researching special dyeing techniques (jet printing, tie & dye) or serigraphy (wrong way round printing, pigment printing, ink jet printing), laser processing of leather, hand dyeing, embossing of leather. These techniques and materials have become common over the years, but back then they were cutting edge and highly experimental.
All of these techniques picked up on the legacy of craftsmanship, which CIVIDINI has always researched and re-launched, interpreting it through refined design and implementing it on its products.
The latest step is the completion of the CIVIDINI offering with a small line of leather accessories: bags, shoes and belts on top of the scarves created with CIVIDINI yarns on antique wooden looms and then either tie-dyed, stencilled, airbrushed or hand-painted.
The CIVIDINI collections, fully made in Italy, attract an elite international client set who demands excellent, exclusive and unbranded products, and who expect truthful products with great inner value.
The CIVIDINI collection has now become a synonym for a Life Style Collection; it embodies the way Miriam and Piero work, think and live, and their vision: aiming at a long-term objective to be pursued relentlessly, without ever forsaking their concept of quality, and most importantly, never letting go of their style.
