JOOP! The Story
JOOP! has developed from a celebrated German icon label to one of the most important, international fashion and lifestyle brands over the course of its history.
The company’s history starts with: Wolfgang Joop, Illustrator and designer. Due to his personality, creative talent and his fine sense of zeitgeist tendencies he soon gives the brand an unmistakeable face thereby laying the foundation for building a successful fashion and licence business. As early as 1978 Wolfgang Joop presented the first collection under his name in New York.
The transition to the 80s marks the beginning of an unparalleled success story. The successful launch of the prêt-à-porter lines for men and women is soon followed by first fragrance creations. “JOOP! Femme” becomes Germany’s best-selling fragrance in 1987. From the 90s JOOP! consistently develops its brand into a successful lifestyle empire offering products for every walk of life – ranging from eyewear, watches and fashion to furniture.
2001 sees Wolfgang Joop leave the company. Initially, the brand is split into three equal shares held by the Holy family (Strellson AG, Windsor), Egana Goldpfeil and the cosmetics group Coty Lancaster but then the Holy Fashion Group takes over as a sole owner of JOOP! GmbH in 2008.
